Welcome to SperrinSmile Dental Care

Serving Dungiven and beyond since 1986

Our practice offers high quality family dentistry with a fantastic team of dentists and nurses.

We offer cosmetic, private and NHS treatments to fit in with your dental needs. We can also arrange referrals to trusted practitioners for advanced treatment such as dental implants, IV sedation and specialist orthodontics.

The practice, originally led by LD Flanagan, changed ownership in 2014 with Dr Kegan Lewis taking the helm. It has grown to include four dental chairs, with ground floor disabled access. It has been a Northern Ireland Medical & Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA) postgraduate training practice since 2018, and as such, is committed to inspiring and facilitating our junior colleagues in their professional development.

The practice has underwent a huge transformation with state-of-the-art dental units, digitalised radiography and welcoming, comfortable interiors. The practice gained RQIA registration in 2014 which allows us to provide private dental treatments safe in the knowledge that our processes and procedures are in keeping with local regulatory standards.

We are proud to have been awarded BDA Good Practice membership in 2020 after rigorous practice assessment in line with UK professional, ethical and legal standards, demonstrating our commitment to ensuring our patients the very best in their dental care.

Disabled Access

We have a ground floor accessed surgery. There is also a bathroom for those with disabilities. Although there is a step into the practice, we can provide a portable ramp for wheelchair users.

Digital Systems

We have the latest technology with digital x-rays (reduced radiation doses), a computerised practice management system to streamline our records, and electric-driven motors to power our dental handpieces (fully adjustable and less noisy than air-driven)

Rotary Endodontics

We use the very latest technology with single-use electrically driven files for root canal treatments. This means a more efficient workflow and feels nicer for our patients.

Making it comfortable

We have air abrasion and air polishing units which can be used as an alternative to the traditional dental drill or ultrasonic scaler in some cases. It uses tiny sand-like particles of aluminium oxide or bicarbonate in a stream of air, and is a gentler way to remove decay and staining.

Your safety, our priority

We work to Health & Social Care Board Operating Procedures for Dental Practice, with COVID-19 screening before appointments, reduced numbers within the practice and spacious seating areas. We have installed ventilation systems to ensure fresh air supplies and to extract air contaminants generated during dental procedures. Our staff wear enhanced PPE including FFP3 masks and all surgery surfaces are disinfected after each appointment.

Our dental instruments and equipment are reprocessed in our state-of-the-art Decontamination facility by our highly trained dental nurses.
